Curators Urge Guggenheim to Fix Culture That ‘Enables Racism’

A letter to the director, signed by “The Curatorial Department,” outlines steps the museum should take to diversify its staff, board and exhibitions. The museum has fallen under scrutiny due to an “inequitable work environment that enables racism, white supremacy, and other discriminatory practices.” Following the murder of George Floyd, museums and cultural institutions across America are becoming held accountable for the way their structures perpetuate systemic racism through hiring, governing, and exhibition practices.
